After an epic UFC 239 last weekend in Las Vegas, the UFC has a tough act to follow. On paper, the upcoming UFC Fight Night 155 card doesn’t look outstanding, but the Sacramento show does feature a legend coming out of retirement, and a former world champion looking to re-establish herself.

In the main event, former UFC Featherweight Champion Germaine de Randamie returns to the Octagon as a bantamweight to take on the fast-rising and undefeated Aspen Ladd. De Randamie was the first-ever women’s featherweight champion when she won a close and controversial decision over Holly Holm back in February 2017. Since then she has won a unanimous decision over Raquel Pennington in November 2018.

De Randamie, who is currently ranked No. 1 at bantamweight, is known as a striking ace.

The 35-year-old from the Netherlands looks to position herself for a potential title shot against reigning UFC women’s bantamweight and featherweight champion Amanda Nunes. With a win, Ladd could make a strong case for the same opportunity. She is ranked No. 4, but she may have a hard time leapfrogging No. 2-ranked Ketlen Viera. In all honesty, those three women are the last realistic challengers to Nunes who has all but cleaned out both divisions.

In the co-main event, Sacramento’s own and UFC Hall of Famer Urijah Faber returns to the Octagon. He’d retired after his unanimous-decision win over Brad Pickett in December 2016, but now the California Kid returns to face the fast-rising Ricky Simon. Faber is a legend of the sport who has done well from a business standpoint away from the Octagon. Still, the draw of the sport and competing in his hometown was too much for Faber to resist.

There are a couple of more intriguing matchups for the hardcore MMA fan. The Josh Emmett vs. Mirsad Bektic battle is especially interesting. Emmett is coming off a highight-reel KO win over Michael Johnson in his last bout, and Bektic, who has always had the look of a title contender is returning after missing more than a year since he took a split decision over Ricard Lamas last June.
